Job Description:
As a Dental Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the dental team to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow within the practice. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the dental professionals in delivering high-quality patient care while maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, preparing and arranging necessary instruments and materials.
- Welcome and prepare patients for dental treatments, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have.
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Prepare treatment rooms and maintain a clean and organized clinical area, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
- Take and record patient medical histories and vital signs, as required.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions.
- Manage patient scheduling, appointments, and treatment plans in coordination with the front office staff.
- Assist in taking and developing dental X-rays.
- Perform dental laboratory procedures such as pouring and trimming models, fabricating temporary crowns, and processing X-rays.
- Adhere to infection control policies and protocols to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent; completion of a recognized dental assistant program is preferred.
- X-ray certification in the state of Virginia is required.
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant is a plus.
- Knowledge of dental instruments, materials, and sterilization methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Attention to detail and dedication to providing exceptional patient care.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is an advantage.
